Sri Lanka Invites Maldivian Investment in Key Sectors

Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has encouraged Maldivian firms to explore investment opportunities in Sri Lanka, highlighting its reliable and investor-friendly environment.

In a joint press statement during his ongoing State Visit to the Maldives, President Dissanayake said efforts are underway to implement a single-window system aimed at enhancing the investment climate, details of which he has shared with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

He stated, “I especially extend invitation to Maldivians to invest in IT/AI, fisheries and agro processing, tourism, real estate and infrastructure development.”
Discussions also took place on opportunities for Maldivian businesses within Sri Lanka’s modern technology parks.

Both leaders talked about the potential for Maldives and Sri Lanka to work together to advance the tourism industry. They also addressed increasing bilateral cooperation in environmental protection, climate change mitigation, and maintaining security in the Indian Ocean region.

President Dissanayake will participate in a business forum organized by the Sri Lankan High Commission in the Maldives. This marks his first visit to the Maldives since taking office last year. He will conclude the visit tomorrow night.
