Ooredoo Mas Race Returns with Bigger Splash in 2025

Ooredoo Maldives, in partnership with the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources, has announced the return of its annual Ooredoo Mas Race. The 2025 event will take place in K. Huraa on 22 August and Sh. Funadhoo on 29 August.

Registration is open until 30 July for teams of 12 members, including captains and officials. Each island will host up to 16 teams. If more teams register, a draw will decide who competes, with full refunds given to those not selected.
Winners in each location will receive MVR 25,000, while second and third place teams will get MVR 10,000 and MVR 5,000. The Best Male and Female Fisher will also be recognized.

The event, a favorite among communities, is known not just as a competition but as a celebration of the Maldives' fishing heritage, Ooredoo said.
