Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, has announced additional flights for the upcoming school holidays to meet increased travel demand. The extra flights will run from June 22 to August 9, covering both domestic and international destinations.
This year, Maldivian will operate additional domestic flights to 16 islands across the country, including major hubs such as Gan, Fuvahmulah City, Kulhudhuffushi City, and Hanimaadhoo. The schedule spans multiple dates with several destinations receiving repeated service, especially during peak travel days in late July and early August.
The airline will also operate additional international flights to India, with extra services to Trivandrum and Cochin. These international flights are scheduled between July 25 and August 10.
Maldivian increases its flight frequency every year during the school holidays to accommodate locals travelling for leisure, family visits, or medical purposes. Similar expansions have been made during other national holidays as well.
The airline currently operates a fleet of 25 aircraft, including an Airbus A330, an Airbus A320, five ATRs, eight Dash-8s, and 11 Dash 6 twin-otters, allowing for wide domestic and regional coverage.
