Over USD 5.4M in Scholarships Awarded in 2025

The Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development has disbursed over USD 5.40 million so far this year to students under the Higher Education Scholarship scheme. According to the latest figures, 107 students received funding—72 female and 35 male students.

Among them, 27 students have already completed their higher education programmes, including 21 women and 6 men.
Since the programme began, the total scholarship amount disbursed has reached USD 21.5 million, benefitting 305 students—207 female and 98 male. Of these, 131 students have graduated, with 75 female and 56 male graduates.

The Ministry previously announced that these scholarship loans are now free of interest and administrative fees. This change follows President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s decision to make all higher education loan schemes Shariah compliant.

The Ministry continues to support students pursuing higher education both at home and abroad, as part of the government’s wider commitment to skills development and accessible learning opportunities.
