Maldives Welcomes Investment Interest from Malaysia’s Berjaya Group

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reiterated the Maldives’ commitment to supporting foreign investment, during an official visit to Malaysia. In a meeting with Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun, the Founder and Advisor at Malaysia’s Berjaya Corporation Berhad, the President invited global investors to explore growing opportunities in the Maldives.

The discussion centered on potential investment areas and ways to build productive partnerships. President Muizzu expressed appreciation for the interest shown by Berjaya Corporation and encouraged further investment in the Maldives.
Vincent Tan shared updates on Berjaya’s ongoing projects and conveyed the company’s interest in expanding its portfolio to include ventures in the Maldives. The President highlighted tourism as a strong area for collaboration, pointing to its continued growth and importance to the national economy.

Ministers who attended the meeting provided additional insight into the country’s investment climate. They stressed the ease of doing business in the Maldives and the range of support available to foreign investors. Discussions also included the country’s air connectivity and plans to improve transportation across the islands.
Joining Vincent Tan were Syed Ali Shahul Hameed, Group CEO of Berjaya Corporation, and Maurice Daniel Chenn, Executive Assistant to the Founder and Director of Business Development.

The meeting marked a step forward in the Maldives’ efforts to attract strategic international investments and strengthen economic ties with Malaysia.
