President Calls for Stronger Economic Ties With Malaysia

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has invited Malaysian businesses to join the Maldives in its journey toward becoming a stronger, more inclusive, and future-ready nation. He made this call during his keynote speech at the Maldives-Malaysia Business Forum 2025 held on Monday.

Describing the Maldives as a strategic and dynamic partner, Dr. Muizzu emphasized the country’s goal of reaching full development by 2040, marking 75 years of independence. He noted that achieving this vision requires collaboration, stating, “This transformation cannot be done alone.”
Highlighting the Maldives’ commitment to building strong and beneficial partnerships, he introduced the newly designated Special Economic Zone (SEZ) boundaries as a promising opportunity for investors.

Dr. Muizzu also pointed to the Maldives’ key location along major shipping routes, positioning the country as an ideal spot for maritime and logistics-related investments.
He further encouraged investment in the tourism sector, especially in hospitality and eco-tourism, areas where the Maldives is already globally recognized.

“We are ready to welcome you to the Maldives—not just as visitors, but as partners in our shared future and prosperity,” he concluded.
