Passport Services Coming to Malaysia for Maldivians

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that Maldivians living in Malaysia will soon have access to passport and identification card services. He shared this during an interview with PSM News on Sunday morning, just before his official visit to the country.

The visit aims to strengthen ties between the Maldives and Malaysia, while also addressing the needs of the Maldivian community living there. President Muizzu emphasized his administration’s commitment to solving the everyday challenges Maldivians face abroad. He confirmed that official talks with Malaysian leaders will take place during the trip.
“We hope that the relationship between the two countries will be further strengthened,” he said, underlining the broader diplomatic goals of the visit.

One of the main developments will be the setup of passport and ID services in Malaysia, a move aimed at making essential services more accessible for Maldivians overseas.
The president also highlighted plans to promote investment in the Maldives. Malaysian investors are expected to receive detailed briefings on potential opportunities in various sectors.
President Muizzu is joined by a team of cabinet ministers and senior officials. The delegation will work on key agreements, including the signing of memorandums of understanding and formal note exchanges to boost cooperation between the two nations.

This visit marks a significant step in improving both citizen services and international partnerships for the Maldives.
