Maldives Nears 800,000 Tourist Milestone in 2025

Tourist arrivals in the Maldives have hit 788,650 so far this year, according to the Ministry of Tourism. This marks a 7.5% increase from the same period last year, when 733,577 tourists were recorded.

The country is now just over 11,000 visitors short of crossing the 800,000 mark. Tourism figures show consistent monthly growth, with over 200,000 tourists arriving every month this year. In the first 23 days of April alone, 156,232 tourists visited, a 20.6% rise.
Daily arrivals now average 6,793. China has become the top source market, with 85,469 visitors this year, followed closely by the UK with 84,723 and Russia with 80,668.

Most tourists, around 70.2%, chose to stay in resorts. Guesthouses hosted 24.2%, while hotels and safari vessels welcomed 3% and 2.5% of tourists, respectively.
The government has set a target of attracting 2.3 million visitors in 2025.
