A new chapter in Maldives trade operations begins this week as the government rolls out Tradian, a National Single Window platform aimed at simplifying import and export services for local entrepreneurs. The platform will officially go live on Tuesday, offering users easier access to key services from multiple agencies, all in one place.
Initiated under the vision of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, Tradian is built to support Dhivehi businesses by making import and export processes more efficient and transparent. The Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) will begin offering several of its services through Tradian starting Sunday, with all services shifting entirely to the platform by June 1.
From June onward, importers and exporters must use Tradian to access certain MPL services, including foreign vessel registration, submission of vessel arrival information, and cargo import manifests.
In addition, the Maldives Customs Service will also integrate its services into the platform. These include the registration of shipping agents, freight forwarders, and foreign-going vessels, as well as submission of cargo and vessel arrival data.
The development of Tradian involved consultations with key economic players and local business communities. While the platform was officially launched in September last year, this marks the beginning of its full-scale rollout.
Businesses are encouraged to register early to avoid disruptions, as manual submissions will be phased out starting June 1.
