The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade has unveiled a new initiative designed to open up market opportunities for Maldivian producers. The recently launched Maldivian Producers' Register aims to facilitate connections between local producers and potential buyers both within the Maldives and internationally.
The register is part of a broader strategy to identify and support individuals who produce goods for commercial sale. By creating this platform, the ministry seeks to promote local products and provide Maldivian producers with better access to domestic and international markets.
One of the key benefits of the register is its potential to connect producers with markets in countries that have trade agreements with the Maldives. This could significantly enhance export opportunities and address the challenges faced by local producers. The registration form is available in the Government Gazette, and the deadline for submission is August 15. Producers with questions can contact the ministry's helpdesk at 1500.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has emphasized the importance of promoting Maldivian products and expanding market access. As part of this initiative, a trade and productivity exhibition is planned for May to further boost the country's productivity. Additionally, Maldivian products will soon be available in Washington DC through the Authentic Maldives store, managed by the Business Centre Corporation (BCC).
This new register marks a significant step in the government's efforts to support local businesses and strengthen the Maldives' presence in global markets. By facilitating better market access and addressing the needs of producers, the initiative aims to drive economic growth and enhance the visibility of Maldivian products on the world stage.
